I just got from a one month vacation in Europe. That time allowed me to reset my world view a bit before I dived back into social media overload. I thought this article had a nice perspective for where we are going with social media.
Visiting the medieval villages of southern France was great fun and a nice break from the cube.
I vow to resist all such demands.
The problem with open standards is which ones to choose. Some of these are just going to die along with the latest startup and other are just a wasteful distraction of resources.

A rapid prototyping platform for physical/digital interactions? A mobile sensor platform for personal and urban informatics that’s going mainstream?
Imagine - AppleStores with shelves of niche, stylish sensor products for sale in a year’s time - pollution sensors, particulates analysis, spectroscopy, soil analysis, cholesterol? All for the price of a Nike+ or so?
Were the target audience for poster ever going to read it?
Hope it is three quarters and not a half!
